A farewell to my Friend

Vaughn Butterbrodt
Vaughn Butterbrodt

I lost a good friend just yesterday, Saturday July the 6th. Vaughn Butterbrodt went to be with the Lord after a long battle with cancer.

Please pray for his wife Mary and his son Beau, pray that the Lord may comfort them both for their loss of a wonderful husband and father.

Personally, I will miss Vaughn a lot. We were both in a small group together that met every Saturday morning to study God’s word. I have come to love and respect Vaughn over the years and I can say the same with absolute certainty for all the other men in the group.

Vaughn attended Maranatha Chapel, which is my home church, before attending  Olive Branch Christian Fellowship, led by my friend and Pastor Scott Gehrman, who just lost his wife due to pancreatic cancer.

I’m sure that many of my Maranatha friends remember Vaughn very well. Vaughn has touched many lives, not only people at church, but lives all over the country because of his bout with cancer. It was because of his cancer that Vaughn became involved with a network of people who have the same disease. People that did not know each other, but were brought together to love and  support each other because they had one common denominator. They would be praying for one another and share their testimonies and daily struggles with this terrible disease.

I remember Vaughn telling me about some of the guys that he met through this network. How he became friends with many, exchanging e-mails, lifting people up in prayer and encourage each other.  A circle of people who became friends, just ordinary people who would not have met, if it were not for the same disease they shared. Vaughn also lost some of his friends during that time. Some of them were believers in Jesus and some were not.  Those who were not, never said no when asked by those who were believers if they could pray for them.

I am truly convinced, that the Lord used Vaughn’s affliction to minister to those who needed a word of encouragement and a word of comfort. Vaughn, despite of his illness, thought of others rather than himself. He helped those that needed someone to lift up their spirits; Vaughn was that man. God used Vaughn’s character and strong faith to minister to others who needed a word of hope and comfort in a time of grief and suffering.

We may not always understand why people have to suffer from various diseases and illnesses and why some people get healed and some people not. We may ask ourselves, why does God allow all this suffering?  My answer to that, I don’t know. I don’t know why God allowed  Vaughn and others  to suffer from cancer or why He allows so many other terrible things happening to people all over the world. One thing I know for sure though, all things have a purpose. Nothing is by accidents or coincidences. There are reasons beyond our comprehension. God is in control and He knows why. God’s ways are not our ways and there are things that our finite minds cannot comprehend or understand.

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55: 8, 9.

The Lord took Vaughn home, to a place of peace and joy. One day we will understand why things were the way they were. God, Who sees the end from the beginning, had His purposes and who knows, what God worked for good through Vaughn’s afflictions. Whatever Vaughn had to go through, it had a purpose and was not in vain. Whatever we may face in the future, will be for a purpose and to glorify God.

I will miss you buddy, but one day Vaughn,  I will see you again. One day, when the Lord will bring us all back together into a new world without pain and suffering.

Vaughn, we who remain will keep on fighting the good fight and run the race as you have my friend. I can’t wait to see you again. Until then, farewell my friend.

“We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” 2 Cr 5:8.

“I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” John 8:12

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

The Love of Money

newDon_Nunzio_Scarano_2http://m.guardiannews.com/world/2013/jun/28/vatican-bank-inquiry-nunzio-scarano

Maybe this Roman Catholic Cleric should have heeded the words of Paul?

“For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.” 1Timothy 10, 11.

Interfaith Dialog – Religious Pluralism = Nonsense

Symbol“Interfaith dialogue” is a pluralistic attempt to find common ground in the values and goals of various religions. Is this something evangelicals should pursue? – Focus on the Family

For some years now the Interfaith movement has gained strength around the world. The Roman Catholic Church has hosted many of these “Interfaith Dialog” meetings at the Vatican and elsewhere. Leaders from many religious backgrounds  had  meetings to  unite and find common ground, hosted by the Vatican and the Pope.

This movement is also known as Religious Pluralism. What exactly does that mean?

“Religious pluralism–understanding and accepting that there is more than one religion.
Interfaith movement–many religions work together on common goals such as social justice, antiwar and antipoverty movements.

“In today’s religious world, it is very important to be respectful of other people’s religions–wars can result if we are not respectful of other religions and cultures.”

USCCB-CM-Plenary-OCT2012--61One of the big players in this movement is Dr. Sayyid M. Syeed. (on the right) Who is he?

Dr. Sayyid M. Syeed, Secretary General of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), a national community leader, is chief executive officer of this Plainfield, IN – suburban Indianapolis – based national umbrella organization which has more than 300 affiliates all over the U.S. and Canada.

A naturalized American citizen, Dr. Syeed obtained his Ph.D. in Sociolinguistics from the Indiana University at Bloomington, Indiana, in 1984.

Sounds pretty impressive doesn’t it?  This same Dr. Syeed also said the following:

“Our job is to change the constitution of America.” — Sayyid Syeed, Islamic Society of North America.

Change the Constitution?  Isn’t that something the radical left would like to do, better yet, throw out the Constitution?  Here is a little bit more about Dr. Syeed:

Dr. Syeed has been actively involved in fostering understanding among the world’s religions and has participated in interfaith dialogues at different levels in the U.S.A. and Canada. A frequent speaker at interfaith dialogues, he has served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Council for a Parliament of the World’s Religions. In recognition of his contribution to inter-religious understanding and harmony, Dr. Syeed was awarded an honorary doctorate of letters by the Graduate Theological Foundation, Donaldson, Indiana on May 4, 2001. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award for distinguished service in furthering the Islamic tradition in North America and for promoting inter-religious understanding and harmony from the Catholic Heritage Foundation, Louisville, Kentucky on November 18, 2001.On January 5, 2002, Mr. Frank O’Bannon, the Governor of Indiana, in his State of the State Address, recognized Dr. Syeed’s “work to educate Americans about the Muslim faith in the wake of the September 11 terror attacks, along with your life’s work to encourage tolerance and racial healing has marked you as a great leader in Indiana.”Dr. Syeed has been invited to speak on Muslim and Islamic issues on the national TV channels, NBC, CBS, CBN, ABC. He was interviewed on PBS on the McNeill-Lehrer Report and appeared on the “Today Show” and CNN’s “Crossfire” and on the national televisions of Turkey, Malaysia, Sudan, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on matters related to Islam and Islam in America.

The Roman Catholic Church has embraced the Interfaith movement.

Fr.-Giles1-127x170“It has been my pleasure to be part of the New Seminary since its founding in 1981. The New Seminary has helped me understand my own faith…my Catholicism better. I find it exciting to tell students and others, that my way is not the only way; it is one way. We believe in honoring all paths. So we ask our students to hold on to the traditions from which they come, but, be ready and willing to expand their horizons…to learn about other religions and faiths from around the world.” – Fr. Giles Spoonhour, Co-FounderReligious pluralism–understanding and accepting that there is more than one religion.

One way? Have you not read your Bible Fr. Spoonhour? It is written: “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” Jhn 14:6

In my opinion, this is a very dangerous movement towards a One World Religion that will lead many away from the true and living God, leading them to man-made gods and religions such as Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Mormonism, and many other ism’s.

In light of what happened just in the last few month, the Libya attack, the Boston Marathon attack and the just recent butchering of a soldier in the streets of London by followers of Allah, makes me wonder. Should we as followers and believers in the Lord Jesus Christ support the Interfaith Movement? I think not.

Many Christians have already bought into this scheme and will be misled. The ultimate goal is to usher in this One World Religious system, the religion of Anti-christ who is to come. We are already moving towards a One World Government and a global currency.

Islam is a religion of Anti-christ and far away from being peaceful. Islam denies the Son. I believe that the Roman Catholic Church, some Christian churches and Islamist leaders are working towards the goal of uniting the world into a one world religion.

Here is a link to a very good website addressing the issue: http://www.gotquestions.org/religious-pluralism.html

From Boston to London and the problem with Radicals

obama.biden_.010809President Obama and Vice President Biden stated before their second term election: Al Qaeda is decimated and on the run, Osama bin Laden is dead and GM is alive.

Really, is Al Qaeda decimated?

What happened in the streets of London today, is now believed to be Al Queda related. This barbaric act is despicable and was not the first, neither will it be the last. The FBI linked one of the two Islamist terrorist brother, responsible for the Boston Marathon bombing to the gruesome triple homicide in Waltham, Massachusetts.

images0419-boston-suspect-tamerlan-tsarnaev-getty-3

Ibragim Todashev was reportedly an acquaintance of Tamerlan Tsarnaev and they met through their love of martial arts. As in London, the killers/terrorist used knifes and there maybe a possible link to an Al Qaeda technique attacking soldiers around the globe.

Today’s butchering of the soldier in London is another beautiful example how peaceful Islam is. When will people wake up and realize that Radical Islam is the cause for many of the problems around the world?

052213_woolich_incident_640These radicals are barbaric and we have entered a time back into barbarianism. The West is under attack by radical Islam and they have taken the fight into our streets. I believe that we will see more and more of these violent acts by homegrown Terrorist and if we don’t speak up, we will see more blood and death in our neighborhoods.

These radicals come from different Muslim controlled countries, like Nigeria, Somalia, Chechnya and others, move to either Europe or the US and  bring their hate for the West and infidels home to us, trying to kill as many as they can in the name of Allah.

How many more of these bastards are still lurking right now, living amongst us, just waiting for an opportune time?

How can we identify those that want to cause us harm? It’s very difficult,  if we continue to be afraid of speaking out against these animals because of “Political Correctness” that is promoted by the left and is causing this country to be more vulnerable.

How much longer will the so-called “Peaceful Muslims” that either live abroad or in this country be mostly silent? Where is their outrage? Where is the outrage when it comes to the liberal media who labels people like me that voice their opinion as Islamaphobic’s?

I’m getting tired of hearing these radicals shouting Allahu Akbar like the one in London on the news, proudly proclaiming that “none of us will be safe.” Very comforting, considering that we have an ongoing move by the left towards gun control and demonizing gun owners because they want to protect their families.

I’m not sure what the solution to this problem with Radical Islam is. I mean, how can you fight an ideology?

Many red flags should be raised and I believe that “racial profiling” is a must considering all the recent and past attacks by those who adhere to the Muslim religion. It is not Sven from Sweden that wants to hurt us, but radicals that come from Muslim Countries or were born in this country, have known the American way of life, but still hate us and want to kill us.

I also believe that by “racial profiling” we could find some of these sleeper cells, waiting to do us harm. We need to stop tip toeing around Islam and Muslims and act before it is too late. England is in the process to become Europe’s  first Islamic Country. Just Google radical Islam and see the problems the UK had and has with the Muslim population.

I’m not sure what the future will bring, but I hope that people will wake up to the threat of Radical Islam and stop treating incidences like the Ft Hood shooting as work related incidences.

There is no comparison between the Bible and the Koran. The Bible is divinely inspired, God breathed and the Koran are just some collected writings by a so-called prophet who thought that he was demon possessed. What did Jesus, Who is God in the flesh and a true Prophet teach us?

“But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, hat you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.” Mat 5:44, 45.  What a concept.

That’s all I have for now and I just needed to say something and welcome you feedback and thoughts. I may add some additional thought at a later time.

Courage, the Liberal Media and Jason Collins

AA-Courage-tank1It amazes me, how the liberal media reports on things these days that seem to further the liberal agendas. The latest, NBA Basketball player Jason Collins who came out of the closet to proclaim that he is gay. First of all, do I care?  Do I need to know?  Do I need to know about every celebrity that is or has become gay? (There are too many to count by now.)

The liberal media calls him courageous for coming out. Really? What’s so courageous about it? The media, fellow athletes are mostly supporting him,  praising him,  which is fine by me, but to call coming out of the closet courageous goes too far for me.

I wonder if his girlfriend/fiancée Carolyn Moos for the past eight years, who had hopes of marriage, children and a future with him thinks that he is a courageous man. Oh sure, on the networks she commented him for being so honest and seems to be supported of him. I’ll bet you that inside, her heart is broken in two.

Jason Collins, another great role model for our children, who look up to people like him and other sports celebrities.

Even President Obama and the first Lady spoke about the courage and full heartily embraced the news about Collins coming out on the news and their social network sites. I thought the job of the President is to protect and govern this country rather than furthering the agenda of certain like minded people. Btw, still no real answers on Benghazi.

The liberal media just drools over this story, giving a voice to those who come on their shows to further their lifestyle and promote it as something good and to be proud of. At the same time, people with a different view or opinion on homosexuality are being mocked and ridiculed as bigots by the liberal media.

The liberals may all Jason Collins  a man of courage. For me courageous people are those who put the lives in harm’s way, like NFL player Pat Tilman who went to Afghanistan and lost his life doing so. The men and women of the Police and Fire departments come to mind,  who are putting their lives on the line when it come to facing danger. I remember the first responders on 9/11 who despite the danger went up the stairs of the Twin towers. That is true courage and those are the once that should be role models to all of us.

Recently we had many courageous people at the Boston Marathon. That to me is courage, people who despite the danger of loosing their own life came to the aid of those who were wounded and in imminent danger.

There were many courageous people throughout history, too many to list, so I name a few. Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Dr Martin Luther King, Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela, Winston Churchill, Rosa Parks and many more. True people of courage.

Courage: That quality of mind which enables one to encounter danger and difficulties with firmness, or without fear, or fainting of heart; valor; boldness; resolution.

This is the day the LORD has made.

Palm Sunday Sunset

“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, Lowly and riding on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey. Zech 9:9.

Today we celebrated the triumphant entry of Jesus into the City of David, Jerusalem. His arrival was not any arrival, He had gone to feast of Passover before, but this was the day the Lord had made.

It was God’s divinely appointed day. Jesus would be crucified a few days later on Passover, the sacrificial lamb of God, the One that Abraham spoke of when he was asked to sacrifice Issac. “The Lord will provide a sacrifice.” Gen 22:8.

Jesus was that lamb on Mount Moriah 2000 years later. Our propitiation. By His stripes we are healed. By His blood we are cleansed and forgiven and have eternal life. Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good.

“This is the day the LORD has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.” Ps 118:24

Israel and the Gog Magog War

End Times Tribulation Watch

Israel-Islam-World-Map-Crop1

The map above reveals how surrounded Israel is by its sworn enemies.
Israel is the key piece in the prophetic puzzle. War has surrounded and pursued them since their reemergence as a nation-state back in 1948.

They were attacked in that first year when the nations of the world helped to fulfill Bible prophecy and helped to seemingly bring the nation back to life again after nearly 2000 years of being scattered across many nations. It was an amazing feat all on its own, the fact that the Jewish people remained a distinct people and didn’t just merge with the people groups among whom they lived for all of those years.

It was also amazing that the hatred of the Jewish people remained so strong toward this small and outcast people. Such a small amount of people and yet so hated by so many people. Why such strong hatred for Jews? It’s spiritual in…

Study thyself…Mr. Bill O’Reilly (Revised/Updated)

BillOoriginalNote to the reader: This is a revision of my original post. Please read the original article, which follows the video link to the Factor Video.

Since the airing of the Factor with Bill O’Reilly, there has been somewhat of an outrage about his statement that the Gospels have contradictions and that many of the stories in the Bible are allegories. Many of his viewers and myself do not agree with his view and interpretation of the Bible.

On March 6th, Bill interviewed Robert Jeffress  the Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Dallas. O’Reilly  in his own words admitted that he personally does not believe in the story of Adam and Eve, Noah and Jonah who was in the belly of the great fish for three days. He said that the Roman Catholic Church teaches that those and many other stories in the Bible are allegories to teach us spiritual lessons.

Pastor Jeffries did not agree with Mr. O’Reilly on those points such as Adam and Eve and Jonah. The Pastor pointed out to O’Reilly that Jesus confirmed those stories and that He did not look at them as allegorical stories but real people and that they are true stories in the Bible.Unfortunately, O’Reilly also believes in evolution rather than a six day creation of all things by Almighty God.

I am attaching the video link of that conversation between Jeffries and O’Reilly. You can judge for yourself. I have come to the conclusion that Bill O’Reilly has absolutely no spiritual understanding of the Bible and what it teaches. He even wants to separate the Old Testament from the New Testament, which is absurd. The Old Testament is all about Jesus and without the OT we would not have the full picture of God’s plan for the redemption of mankind.

Every single book of the Old Testament points to Jesus. The New Testament reveals what the Old Testament concealed.

Bill O’Reilly is exactly the kind of person Paul wrote about: “But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” 1 Corinthians 2:14.

Here is the link: http://youtu.be/bcAZm4_LLnA

My original article before the above revision/update:

Bill O’Reilly did a segment on the factor about the new documentary  series, “The Bible” on the History channel. He stated in this segment that there are many contradictions in the Gospels, which led me to respond, because I couldn’t believe my ears that evening, that a statement like that would be made by a so-called Christian.

Since I wrote this article, some people wrote Bill  via e-mail, which he reads at the end of the factor. One of the viewers responded by writing that Jesus confirmed Jonah, creation i.e Adam and Eve, to which O’Reilly responded that the viewer was absolutely wrong and that he should read his new book Killing Jesus to find the truth. There are many people who disagree with Mister Bill O’Reilly.

Mr. O’Reilly, there are no contradictions, the four gospels compliment each other, each from a different viewpoint.

It’s like 4 people, standing on a different corner of an intersection, watching an accident. All four saw the same event, but from a slightly different perspective.

Each Gospel gives us a unique look at the life of Jesus and we get the complete picture by studying them. There are no contradictions.

Every time someone claims that there are contradictions in the Bible, they have been refuted by various true Bible scholars and people who have studied the Bible in-depth.

As followers and disciples of Jesus, we all need to know and study the word so that we can defend our faith.

Bill O’Reilly comes from a Roman Catholic background. I don’t doubt his faith, but when it comes to the knowledge of the whole counsel of God, I have to question that. I have heard him many times speak about faith and Jesus, but I am certain that he hasn’t done any expository studies of any books in the Bible.

The Roman Catholic Church is not known for teaching the word of God to the people verse by verse, book by book in an expository fashion. I don’t mean to offend any of my Roman Catholic friends, but in my opinion, most Roman Catholics around the world do not have a comprehensive understanding of the written word of God.

When it comes to Mr. O’Reilly, I wish that he would just stick to politics, where he has an opinion, but please Mr. O’Reilly do not make statements like you did tonight and presenting them as factual.

God’s word does not contradict itself. God’s word is the absolute truth.

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16, 17.

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15.

The Fear that I have is , that once the new book is coming out that many weaker or liberal Christians in the faith will believe the views of O’Reilly, just as many of these weak unlearned Christians believed Dan Brown’s “The Da Vinci Code.”

I hope that many will see this error of O’Reilly and realize that he is not a strong and studied Bible believing Christian. His tip of the day the other day was to at least spend one hour a week thinking about spiritual things. One Hour? For a true disciple and follower of Jesus Christ we are or should be in the Spirit 24/7 365 days a year. Everyday we commune with God not just once a week to atone as he said it on his show.

Personally I view Bill O’Reilly as a very opinionated and arrogant person, that acts like he is above others. I do not see the humbleness Jesus Who is God displayed while He was walking the earth in Bill O’Reilly. Even-though scriptures tell us to become more and more like Christ, conforming into His image.

I don’t like judging people, but I believe strongly that O’Reilly is wrong on this and I will not read his book, because I have the feeling that it will have many inaccuracy in it that stem from his Roman Catholic View rather than from a born again view.

If he had the Holy Spirit dwelling within him, he would never say the things he says, because it is the Holy Spirit Who bears witness to the truth found only in the Word of God.

I would like my readers to understand that these opinions are mine and I am not out to offend anybody, but I as believer need to speak up when someone makes a bold statements by people like O’Reilly. Please pray for Bill Reilly and many other Roman Catholic believers that have the same views, that they would be filled with the Holy Spirit and see the truth.

You are redeemed – Isaiah 44:22

Isaiah 44:22“I have blotted out, like a thick cloud, your transgressions, And like a cloud, your sins. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.” Isaiah 44:22.

Another one of God’s great promises in the Bible. There are over 7000 promises in the word of God. To be honest, I don’t know them all, but one thing I know for sure, God keeps His promises.

Our sins are blotted out and God does not remember them anymore. That is something that we as believers need to lay hold off.

“As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:12.

There are way too many believers living a life of condemnation, believing that they are not good enough or are failing God everyday. I have good news for those who believe that, we as believers will never be good enough or perfect before God. We will always fall short of His glory, no matter how hard we may try to please Him.

It is not about us or what we do or have done. It is all about Jesus and what He has done on Calvary. He was the only one that lived a perfect life and He was the only one that did the will of His Father.

“And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him.” John 8:29.

That is impossible for fallen man, believers or non-believers alike. We can never live a perfect life and please God. In the eyes of God no one is righteous.

“But we are all like an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; we all fade as a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.” Isaiah 64:6.

Jesus did it all for us, by laying down His life as a propitiation before God. He was the unblemished passover lamb. His blood cleanses us from all sin. It is not our righteousness, but His righteousness that was imputed onto all of those who believe in Him by faith.

Once we realize, that Jesus has done it all for us by going to the cross, there should be no feeling of condemnation or an inch of doubt that God loves us. He loves us so much, that He gave His only begotten Son. Jesus is our reconciliation and He is our High Priest. Jesus has torn the curtain to the Holy of Holies and we as believers have direct access through Him and come boldly before the throne of God.

God looks at the believers through the blood of Christ, He has redeemed us by His precious blood. The blood that does not just cover our sins as it was the case with the sacrificial animals, but His blood takes away the sins once and for all.

We will always fall short and those who believe that the are sinless are plain and simply, self-righteous people, condemning others, believing that they are better than others.

The Bible teaches just the opposite, self-righteousness will not justify anybody before God. It is God’s grace and the finished work of Jesus on the cross that justifies the believers.

We are saved by grace through faith and even the faith of the believers was given to them by God. The next time you have any doubts or feel like God does not love you, look at the cross. At the cross, God demonstrated His love for us.

Stop worrying and let God do the good work in you and through you. Surrender to His will. Let His will be done, not yours. Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith. He started it and He will finish it. And that, is also a promise.

“…being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;…” Philippians 1:6.

“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” Romans 8:1.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16.

Thank you Jesus, Maranatha.
