Atheists or Anti-theists love to make the statement, “there is no God!” I had numerous conversations with anti-theists which lead nowhere except around and around in circles. An Atheist strongly believes that there is no God, just as I strongly believe God exist. Sometimes I wonder why atheists are so outspoken against something they claim does not exist. They even have their own symbol and hold conventions, and meetings of “Free Thinkers”. Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, who recently expired, and many others have written numerous books on their belief’s.
Before I was a believer, I never thought of going around mocking Christians and their faith and belief’s in God. Atheists, however, go out of their way pushing their godless agenda. Atheists can get pretty upset when I call atheism a religion. Their statement of “there is no God” is an empty statement, because they cannot for a fact disprove God. Neither can I necessarily prove the existence of God. In my view an atheist has thoroughly examined all the evidence and has come to the conclusion in his or her mind that God does not exist.
Since the atheists can not disprove God for a fact, their belief that God does not exist is by faith. As a believer I know with an absolute certainty that God exist and that God is the creator of all things. I have not seen God, but I believe by faith just as the atheist believes by faith. When I say God, I mean the God of the Bible, YHWH, the only true and living God. God is only a title and there are many god’s. It can get confusing sometimes because people have made so many of their own god’s in the past and present. The Bible speaks very clearly about the natural man, which in this case, the atheist is, a natural man without any kind of true spiritual understanding. “But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” 2Cr 2:14.
It is a fact that unbelievers and rejecters of God have no spiritual understanding or relationship in any way to the true and living God. The dilemma for the atheists is that they can not be sure that there is no God. One thing believers and unbelievers share is that, at one point in our life, we will have to face death. One out of one dies and that is reality. The question for the atheist is, what happens at the moment of passing? Blackness, darkness, nothingness? The light switch just get’s turned off? What if you are wrong, my dear atheist? What if there is something that happens at the moment of death? The writer of Hebrews wrote this: “And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment..” Heb 9:27.
What if he is right, my atheist friend? Can you stand before God on your Day of Judgment having rejected Him? The only unpardonable sin is the rejection of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. I would not want to be in your shoes on that day. Are you 100% sure that God does not exist? Because if not, I would really take some time to learn about Jesus. Meet the real Jesus, not the one portrayed on the History Channel or Discovery channel. Start with the gospel of John. Jesus said, “seek and you shall find,” Matthew 7:7. I think that the atheist community is in a dilemma because, if their theory proofs to be wrong, there is much to fear: Eternal separation from God. Even the unbelievers are still getting blessed by God, which will end one day, either when they die or on Judgment Day, at the end of the age.
The Bible teaches that today is the day of salvation. Seek God before it is too late. I hope and pray that any proclaiming atheist reads this to at least investigate who Jesus is, why He came and died on the cross for the sin of the world. The glorious promise of eternal life He gave to all of those who believe in Him by faith. Jesus said, “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. “Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.” Mat 7:13, 14. Jesus does not want anyone to perish but to have everlasting life. Are you sure that when you die there is nothing? Think about it.
“The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, They have done abominable works, There is none who does good.” Psalm 14:1
Believers in Jesus are not any better than anybody else. We are sinners just like everybody else. We are fallen creatures that were forgiven by Jesus Christ through His sacrifice on the cross. Heaven is not full of good people, but of forgiven sinners.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16.

Thanks for your comment. First off let me say that I respect your position, but you are presenting many issues as if they were factual. For example, People are outspoken, saying that global warming does not exist. (I would be one of those).
Because we have a black President, racism doesn’t exist (I’m not one of those, there is only one race, the human race).
Believing or not believing in global warming, cannot be compared with whether God exist or not. The very word Atheist means anti-God. You do not believe that there is a creator, that created all things for a purpose. I”m on the other hand am a Theist.
I do believe that God exist. I believe that He is outside of the created universe and among His many other attributes, that he is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent. When it comes to Jesus, He is God that became flesh (one of us). He is the second person of the triune Godhead. He was and is not merely a nice guy that walked the earth.
He was the promised Savior which was foretold in the Old Testament. There are over 300 prophecies concerning His first coming to the exact date and time. We also know about His second coming, just not the day or hour.
The five books of Moses (Torah) were written over 3500 years ago and many other books 1000 years, 700 years all prophesying the coming of the Messiah. If you look at the probability of only 8 prophecies that were fulfilled by Jesus you are reaching astronomical numbers.
Jesus fulfilled 300. Just 8 would be like you stag the State of Texas 3 feet high with silver coins and paint one of them black, take a person, blind fold him and have him find the coin on his first try.
When it comes to the book of the Bible, how they were written, btw Mark was the first Gospel written in circa 50AD, how they were canonized, I would recommend reading some books about Church History.
And finally to your point on my “made up story”. You are ,making the assumption that it is made up, that is a statement that you can not validate.
I believe that were all made in the image of God, some choose to believe and follow Him, others reject Him. If we were just as you say die and become worm food, what is the purpose for you being here?
Why going through a life with all it’s pleasantries and unpleasantness? Why care about anything when you are just gone one day. What is life for?
I believe that we all have eternity written on our hearts. No one wants to die, dying is not natural. We long for eternal life and I believe that through believing in Jesus I and many others will receive eternal life.
Here is what Jesus said, why some will receive eternal life and some eternal condemnation, not my words, HIS.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
“For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
“And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
“For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.” John 3:16-20.
As an Atheist, I had to read this. And no, I have no dilemma. And no, I’m not going to change your mind, just like you’re not going to change mine. I have to completely agree that conversations tend to “lead nowhere except around and around in circles.” But let me point out a few things:
I could care less what the Atheist symbol is. I don’t even know what it is. Regardless, to be outspoken against something that does not exist is not uncommon. Examples: People who are outspoken stating that global warming doesn’t exist. People who are outspoken stating that, since we now have a Black (or mixed) President, racism does not exist. People who are outspoken regarding what did or didn’t happen at the JFK assassination. My point is this: Yes, people can be unified against something that does not exist. Maybe a better way to look at it would be a yin to your yang, rather than getting caught up in the “doesn’t exist” part of things.
History (yes, science and stuff) proves that at guy walked the earth at about zero B.C. (give or take). He did good things. Love your neighbor, turn the other cheek, stuff like that. Good stuff. He was a good man. After he died, people wrote books about him. The books became many, and his positive words and actions affected many people. So many, that it changed society in many positive ways.
The majority of your posting is based upon (validated) by scriptures from the book they put together, a few hundred years after his death at the Nicaea council. Call it a “mix tape” or “best of” all the books written about him – in addition, they added their own tunes, such as “We’re gonna call this guy the Son of God,” among others.
You can’t justify an argument by referring to your “bedtime stories” book. It’s like saying “I hired a bunch of tobacco companies to put together a report saying that cigarettes are good for you. Here are the results: Tobacco is good for you. So there are the results. It makes it true. It’s written right there in black and white. It’s true. Anytime anyone asks me about it, I’m going to point to that report and show them that it’s true.”
Make your point without referring to your made-up story-book. Then maybe you can sway an Atheist. Or better yet, maybe you’ll be swayed by an Atheist, and realize the joke you’ve bought and upon which you base your life.
And yes, when we die, we are merely worm food. I’m OK with that. It’s called “reality.” Go ahead and pray to your imaginary friend about me. Frankly, I don’t care. It’s YOUR time that’s wasted – not mine.
i dont know it scares the crap out of me tinhking that the next Vp might take the bible litteraly (palin) i like mcain and i like obama.. but im scared if palin becomes president what will happen( maybe if she had taught her daughter about the birds and the bees she wouldnt be a teenage preggo) but anyways hopefuly she changed her mind on the no sex education to middle schoolers i dont think religion should have anything to do with politics..a man going off pure logic and insight has a better plan for running this country than a man who putts all faith in god.. -sorry christiansReferences : take iran for example very dangerous and unpredictable becasue there leader believes in god(allah_same difference).. if we had left sadam(athiest) in iraq then iran would have stayed back and in there place but now with sadam (who iran feared) out of power i predict iran will ruin the middle east
So, A divine intervention will make words that make no sense suddenly make sense? Yeah, I think I’ll pass on believing that. But you’re proving my point about the lengths one must go to try to consider the story to be in any way reasonable or logical. Have a great new year. Bye!
Nick it seems you are not reading even what I write with understanding, so I will repeat it again and it is also what Freddy advised you. Once more to affirm it for you, there is no way you can understand the Scriptures unless you are empowered to do so by the Holy Spirit ( Ghost ), see verses below but please take time to read the whole Chapter. So this is why they don’t make sense to you Nick but I assure you there are no contradictions in the Scriptures, God does not make mistakes and He inspired all the Scriptures not just parts of them and they are all useful for our maturity in Christ Jesus. God does not lie, your problem Nick is you can’t see the big picture and never will until you search for God with all your heart and find Him, right now for you reading the Bible is like you trying to read it the dark ,you have no light and so can’t see God’s Truth, sad but True – Take Care, I continue to pray for you Nick – Kind regards Anne
1 Corinthians 2: 12-16 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Ghost teaches; comparing spiritual things with Spiritual. But the natural man received not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are Spiritually discerned. But he that is Spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct Him? but we have the mind of Christ.
I’ve read the book, cover to cover, not just the cherry picked bits preachers like. I’d recommend it to you, in fact. Why do you think I’m an atheist? A thorough, critical reading of the bible is almost assured to reveal that it’s riddled with contradictions, absurdities, and that it is rather obviously a compendium of mythology and outright fiction. It simply gets worse when people cherry pick the parts they want to say are great while ignoring the rest, and gloss over all the glaring inconsistencies.
The book proves nothing – because it’s just a book. I could make the same assertions about any book and they’d have no further weight unless I used the same baseless special pleading that you do.
Nick this Statement you made is in error ……To date, no one ever has been able to, and instead, you’ll make excuses about “requiring faith” and the like.
God has proven Himself in the Scriptures , have you read them? there are things in the Bible that only God could have known when they were recorded, man would have had no idea or even been able to prove it if he had.
Until you read the Scriptures Nick and understand them you really do not have a basis to question if God is real and as Freddy shared to understand the Scriptures you need the Holy Spirit 1 Corinthians 2:9-16 and to have the Holy Spirit you have to believe in God and He tells us when we search for Him with all our heart we will find Him … How good is that!
May you search and find Him Nick, I will be praying for you- Christian Love Anne.
Ah yes the Book of Job. One of the greatest illustrations of the insanity of religion. God tortures a man to win a bet, more or less. Yeah, that really makes me want to believe, especially without any evidence to support that belief.
Cindy, I was just making sure you didn’t have the mistaken impression that Christianity alone was somehow responsible for science, because as I’ve illustrated, that’s completely wrong.
What I said, and I thought I made myself quite clear, is that all that comes from religion is not good – some of the worst evil perpetrated in history came in the name of religions, including Christianity. That’s not a point for debate. That’s a historical fact. Furthermore, if religion is allowed to continue to influence politics, we’ll see more of the same – THAT is why we can’t simply ignore it. It’s a benign force in most people’s lives, but in the hands of a few, it’s extremely dangerous. That I very simply cannot tolerate.
Nick: “Who is this who darkens counsel By words without knowledge? Now prepare yourself like a man; ( NICK) I will question you, and you shall answer Me. “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding. Who determined its measurements? Surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? To what were its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone? “Have you entered the springs of the sea? Or have you walked in search of the depths? “Where is the way to the dwelling of light? And darkness, where is its place? By what way is light diffused, or the east wind scattered over the earth? “Who has divided a channel for the overflowing water, Or a path for the thunderbolt, To cause it to rain on a land where there is no one, A wilderness in which there is no man; To satisfy the desolate waste, And cause to spring forth the growth of tender grass? Has the rain a father? Or who has begotten the drops of dew? “Can you bind the cluster of the Pleiades, Or loose the belt of Orion? Do you know the ordinances of the heavens? Can you set their dominion over the earth? “Can you lift up your voice to the clouds, That an abundance of water may cover you? Who has put wisdom in the mind? or who has given understanding to the heart? “Shall the one who contends with the Almighty correct Him? He who rebukes God, let him answer it.” Some exerts from the book of Job, 38-40. Think on those things Nick, can you answer God? Do you have the wisdom and knowledge of God? Btw, Job is one of the oldest books in the Bible.
Nick, I believe that many Atheist have the wrong view of what the church is. The church does not consist of denominations, temples and buildings. The true church i.e. the “called out” is every true believer in Jesus Christ, also called the bride of Christ, who are individual stones that make up the temple of God. I have no excuse about church history, many bad things have been done in the name of God. These things were committed by men, not God. They were institutions, greedy power seeking men, that used the name of God for their purposes. Not everybody in the past and present that call themselves Christians are true biblical Christians. Even Jesus said so, “not everybody that calls me Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven.” We are living in a fallen world with finite people that seek their own riches, abusing and using the word of God to do so. True biblical Christianity is a personal relationship with Jesus, not religion. Religion separates people from God. Mankind is spiritually separated from God, Jesus bridged that gap and as true believers we can have a true meaningful relationship with our Creator. How powerful is my God? He spoke the universe into existence. Many people put God in a box, to their liking or image. God is awesome and incomprehensible, eternal and He always existed. He is infinite and sovereign, He allows men to do the things they do because He gave us a free will and choice. He is in absolute control and ultimately, all things work for His divine eternal purpose. People deep within want to live forever, they don’t want to die. We have eternity written on our hearts. Jesus wants to give us that eternal life. A person that believes in Him shall never die. That is a promise that He made, that is the reason He came and He wants that none perish, but unfortunately many reject Him and the free offer of forgiveness and eternal life.
“Much early scientific discovery came from the polytheistic Greeks.”
well, the vast majority of the Greek theories were wrong. not only that, but you yourself pointed out that they were polytheistic…umm…that’s religion.
“The foundations of modern chemistry came from Muslim alchemists.”
again….islam is a religion….
“The Jesuits maintain massive scientific research programs including an extremely advanced observatory”
the jesuits were christians….that’s religion…
“, Christianity gave us the Dark Ages, the Crusades, the Spanish Inquisition, the Conquistadores, witch trials, persecution of science, abuse of children at aboriginal schools, rampant sexual abuse of children protected by religious authorities, etc.”
1. beg to differ, my friend..christianity did not bring the dark ages, the collapse of the roman empire brought the dark ages and if not for monks in christian monasteries, much knowledge from the ancient world would not be available to us today
2. christianity did not bring the spanish inquisition…i believe that ferdinand and isabella of spain brought that. the same for all of the other atrocities you mentioned. those were not brought by Christ, God or christianity. they were brought by PEOPLE. Christ/God did not commit those atrocities, people did.
when i was younger, i had a problem with going to church because i thought all of the people there were hypocrites (and some of them were). when i expressed this concern to a friend, she replied, “well, cindy, those people did not die on the cross for you: Jesus did.”
3. are you telling me that we should throw the baby out with the bathwater? because people have done horrible things in name of Christ does not mean that God does not exist!!
“Those who need to believe will find any reason to do so. Those of us who don’t simply won’t.”
with this statement, i can wholeheartedly agree, even though it saddens me.
anyway, wish you well and happy new year to you, nick.
Much early scientific discovery came from the polytheistic Greeks. The foundations of modern chemistry came from Muslim alchemists. Mathematics were primarily the product of Arabs, with substantial contributions from India as well. The Jesuits maintain massive scientific research programs including an extremely advanced observatory. They fortunately don’t parrot young earth creationism and have long since understood that evolution is a fact they cannot argue, so they are really looking for a way to fit their beliefs into reality.
In addition to its scientific contributions, which I don’t deny, Christianity gave us the Dark Ages, the Crusades, the Spanish Inquisition, the Conquistadores, witch trials, persecution of science, abuse of children at aboriginal schools, rampant sexual abuse of children protected by religious authorities, etc. Islam also gave us 9/11 among other things. Violence, hatred, and such things have been a feature of virtually all religions at some point.
We evolved with religious beliefs because of our innate curiosity – it’s a simple way to try to impose order and explain natural phenomena. However, we’re now reaching a point where we don’t need.
Quote: “personally, and unlike many other Christians, i do not believe that it is necessary for me to prove to you, logically or otherwise, that God exists.” and yet you’ll try to argue against science?
As for asking gods if they exist, it’s been done. And there has universally been a nil return. Those who need to believe will find any reason to do so. Those of us who don’t simply won’t.
if religion poisons everything, and retards thinking, reason and progress, then how do you explain the fact that the scientific revolution itself was put in motion and furthered by christians?
“Religion poisons everything. It poisons science, politics, society. It fuels wars and strife. It retards our progress as a civilization and a species to cling to ancient myths that primarily serve to divide people.”
do you seriously believe this and still claim to be a reasonable, thinking person? i don’t know who has brainwashed you, but it would certainly benefit you to research that before making such a blanket statement. that is exactly what you berated freddy for a few comments back!
It is obvious that Atheism cannot be true; for if it were, it would produce a more humane world, since it values only this life and is not swayed by the foolish beliefs of primitive superstitions and religions. However, the opposite proves to be true. Rather than providing the utopia of idealism, it has produced a body count second to none. With recent documents uncovered for the Maoist and Stalinist regimes, it now seems the high end of estimates of 250 million dead (between 1900-1987) are closer to the mark. The Stalinist Purges produced 61 million dead and Mao’s Cultural Revolution produced 70 million casualties. These murders are all upon their own people! This number does not include the countless dead in their wars of outward aggression waged in the name of the purity of atheism’s world view. China invades its peaceful, but religious neighbor, Tibet; supports N. Korea in its war against its southern neighbor and in its merciless oppression of its own people; and Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge kill up to 6 million with Chinese support. All of these actions done “in the name of the people” to create a better world.
What is so strange and odd that in spite of their outward rejection of religion and all its superstitions, they feel compelled to set up cults of personality and worship of the State and its leaders that is so totalitarian that the leaders are not satisfied with mere outward obedience; rather they insist on total mind control and control of thoughts, ideas and beliefs. They institute Gulags and “re-education” centers to indoctrinate anyone who even would dare question any action or declaration of the “Dear Leader.” Even the Spanish Inquisition cannot compare to the ruthlessness and methodical efficiency of these programs conducted on so massive a scale. While proclaiming freedom to the masses, they institute the most methodical efforts to completely eliminate freedom from the people, and they do so all “on behalf” of the proletariat. A completely ordered and totally unfree totalitarian State is routinely set up in place of religion, because it is obviously so profoundly better society. It is also strange that Stalin was a seminarian who rejected Christianity and went on to set up himself as an object of worship. It seems that impulse to religious devotion is present in all, whether that be in traditional forms or secular inventions.
And while it is often said that Hitler was a Christian, the Nuremberg documents clearly reveal the heart of this ruthless man who believed in social Darwinism and had devised plans to completely eliminate Christianity after the Third Reich was firmly established. He wanted to use religion to subvert it for his own political purposes, but he had rejected his Catholic heritage long before. What should be of concern to every atheist is that Hitler thought he could best succeed if he eliminated the Church’s influence on politics. He promised not to persecute Catholics if the Catholic Church agreed to stay out of politics. However, many Protestants could not accept Hitler’s claim to be a German Messiah or submit to an absolute allegiance to the German State, and many Protestants and Catholics were put into Concentration Camps along with the Jews for their resistance to the Fuhrer.
Hitler’s view of the Master Race was highly influenced by both Nietzschean Philosophy and modern, Darwinian evolutionary view of science. So we can also obviously see that evolution must be wrong because it led to more than 6 million Jews and 5 million non-Jews murdered in this quest for Fuhrer worship and absolute power.
My point is this: you cannot say anything about the existence or non-existence of God by comparative body counts. What people do in the name of religion is no worse than what people do in the name of atheism. All it proves is that human beings are capable of unspeakable evils, regardless of their affections or faiths. The Book of James says as much that people use the cloak of religion to hide their greed and oppress one another: “What causes fights and quarrels among you? Aren’t they caused by the selfish desires that fight to control you? You want what you don’t have, so you commit murder. You’re determined to have things, but you can’t get what you want. You quarrel and fight. You don’t have the things you want, because you don’t pray for them. When you pray for things, you don’t get them because you want them for the wrong reason–for your own pleasure.” James 4:1-3.
While the desire to see justice on this earth is understandable, and the desire laudable, the lack of justice actually points more to the existence of God. Why? Because of our innate sense of injustice when things go wrong. Why in a universe of chance and accident, where morals are the mere fictions of weak willed and weak minded men, deceived by superstitions, should banal ideas of “justice” stand in the way of the success of the Supermen, who possess superior intellect and who are not bound by the trifling morals of lesser men?
Hitler’s 11 million dead:
Mao’s 70 million dead:
Stalin’s purges kill 61 million
From 1900-1987 over 250 million dead through Atheism’s grasp for domination:
taken from the Scholars corner website.
personally, and unlike many other Christians, i do not believe that it is necessary for me to prove to you, logically or otherwise, that God exists. but i can tell you one way to find out for sure: ask Him.
you could say something like this: “God, if you are real, prove it to me.”
if He shows you He is real, then you have your answer. if He doesn’t, you still have your answer.
have you ever thought of that?
Quote: “Do you really believe that we are here by chance or two blobs colliding about 4.3 billion years ago i.e the big bang?”
I believe it’s eminently possible, given that cogent scientific theory explains that possibility. I don’t know if that’s the actual origin of the universe, and I accept we may never know or understand the origins of the universe. What I do see is that those who argue for “gods” cannot do so with any evidence that can be considered objective. That’s not the case with science.
Quote: “Darwinism is only a theory which can not hold ground much longer due to the advances of science, like DNA or the bacterial flagellum etc”
I suggest you get a dictionary and actually come to understand what the word “theory” means in the context of the Scientific Method. Better yet, read Dawkins’ book “The Greatest Show On Earth” which explains the difference between the colloquial meaning of the word and the actual meaning of the term in science. Understanding genetics, DNA, etc is actually what’s helping science understand the process by which evolution took place. Your mention of the flagellum suggests you’re trying to advance Michael Behe’s thoroughly debunked “irreducible complexity” and intelligent design. If you’re suggesting that that’s a movement that’s changing the minds of biologists, you’re either very poorly informed, or deliberately lying.
As for the “probably”, the group that produced those ads watered down their message to make sure they could publicize them, and the idea is to get someone who does believe to start to question their beliefs, so the more conciliatory tone probably makes sense. I get why they did it.
As for why we put in the effort: it’s simple. Religion poisons everything. It poisons science, politics, society. It fuels wars and strife. It retards our progress as a civilization and a species to cling to ancient myths that primarily serve to divide people. That’s why we have to call it to the carpet, and let logic, reason, science, and critical thinking do what they will inevitably do: doom the ideas of mythology to history, where they belong.
From the perspective of logic, it’s impossible to prove a negative, so no, I know of and cannot make such an argument. Realize that I reject your god for the same reason you reject Zeus, Thor, Brahmin, Quetzalcoatl, and literally thousands of other gods. You make the assertion that your god exists, and I say, prove it. Or at least, show us some evidence to support your claim. To date, no one ever has been able to, and instead, you’ll make excuses about “requiring faith” and the like.
The simple reality is that there’s no reason to believe in gods of any sort, and frankly, even if some evidence was provided that one existed, I can’t see any reason that it would deserve much in the way of reverence from us or any other species on this planet.
Nick, there is none so blind than those who refuse to see. If you can’t see God Who created the universe and everything in it, you are blind. Do you really believe that we are here by chance or two blobs colliding about 4.3 billion years ago i.e the big bang? If you would just open your eyes you would see that everything is wonderfully made including you. Darwinism is only a theory which can not hold ground much longer due to the advances of science, like DNA or the bacterial flagellum etc. There are more and more scientist that are leaning towards intelligent design. Where there is design, there must be a designer. Do you really believe that the universe just came into existence by a collision? That thought is like someone would take a stick of dynamite, throwing into a printing factory and the declaration of independence comes out of it. Well. my low level of poor literacy is well taken, English is my second language. Just so you know, I am not attacking Atheist or try to insult Atheist, I’m just raising some points from a viewpoint of a believer. Btw, I have not always been a believer, it took me 46 years to realize that my life was empty pursuing the things of the world that never truly satisfy. Jesus transformed my life and I am thankful for that. Once I was blind and now I see. Another thing, for my latest post “Good without God?” I goggled for some pictures. Some Atheist group made billboard and bus signs. The bus sign read, “God probably does not exist”. What is that mean, probably? Not 100% sure about the existence of God? Looks to me like that Atheist can’t be 100% sure if God exist. Proof of God? I see God’s handiwork all around me, how can I proof something to a spiritual blind person? If God does not exist, why are so many atheist devote their time, write books, hold lectures on something they don’t believe even exist? Wishing you a happy new year.
do you know of an argument that disproves the existence of God? if so, please enlighten the rest of us.
not everyone is going to accept that there is a God and that Christ is the way to Him. evidently God is perfectly okay with that because He allows you the freedom to reject him.
this is just one of the reasons i agree with cinhosa’s previous comment about praying for atheists/agnostics. i think that is about all we can do. nothing short of an act of God is going to change their minds.
one’s relationship with God, whether is amounts to worship, apathy or hatred is highly personal and is ultimately between God and the individual.
Setting aside the extremely low level of literacy in these posts (you might want to try using paragraphs, for a start!), you’re using an extremely poor argument called Pascal’s Wager. One that’s been debunked for a long time as being frankly ridiculous. I’d guess you try Googling it for more thoroughness, but basically, you’re staking essentially the same bet putting in all our chips on one claimed god.
You need to understand that atheists don’t believe in any gods for a very simple reason: the complete, total lack of evidence for them. Until you have evidence, until you can show even a shred of objective proof of your claims, you’re not likely to convince us of anything.
Wow. You don’t know what the phrase “in lieu of” means do you, and I’m going to have to venture to guess that you don’t actually know who Christopher Hitchens was (since you don’t even know his name!).
Thank you Michael, I sincerely hope that God revealed Himself to Hitchens before He past on. As I wrote in my post, things look different once someone lies on his or her’s deathbed. Wishing you a Happy New Year and many blessings to come. Maranatha Lord Jesus.
Hey Bro. What An Awesome Post!! In lieu of Richard Hitchens recent death, I thought this article had some relevance to it!! As An Atheist he certainly had a large following. Great Blog Site By The Way!! “HAPPY NEW YEAR” Godspeed My Friend!!
Thank you Jeffery, I will check it out. Be blessed.
P.S. Someone tweeted this book today – The Last Superstition: A Refutation of the New Atheism
I use my free will to ignore the atheists who in my opinion loudly proclaim “I am afraid so I will put down other people’s beliefs.”
The best we can do is love those who choose not to believe and pray for them.
Not an easy task. I was doing some thinking about the belief verse unbelief. Might have to write a part 2 or add to current post. Thanks again, blessings, Freddy.
God bless your heart my brother. I tried to witness to an atheist once who told that she was 100% atheist and that was it. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Cindy, that would be awesome. They do get offended quite a bit, but if we reach out in love, showing that we care about them, who knows maybe a little door opens. May the Lord guide you when you write a post about atheism. Blessings to you. Here is a good apologetic website from a friend of mine here in San Diego: http://alwaysbeready.com There you can find many writing on apologetic’s and how to respond to them.
Hi Cathy and thank you. It is not easy to talk to atheist about God, the Bible etc. They have no spiritual understanding at all, they look at everything from the viewpoint of human reasoning, logic and science. Most all of them use the rhetoric questions and they want you to prove to them God exist, which is difficult considering that we are dealing with a natural minded person. One thing to remember is that they are people just like we, they are just spiritual blinded. Just as I was before I met Jesus. One thing they have to admit is that we do have the one thing in common and that is that we will all face death. The question is, what happens at the moment of death? Will there be nothing or do we have a spirit that lives on after the physical body has expired? If the atheist is right and there is no God, just nothingness than I have nothing to fear. I would be just gone. Should I be right as I believe that I am and there is a life after death and we will stand before God, than the atheist has a lot to worry and think about. How can they defend themselves before Almighty God, if they have rejected them over and over again? Jesus does not want anybody to perish and it is His will that people will be saved and not spend eternity separated from Him. So my desire is that they would find the truth which is in Christ. I don’t hate or dislike atheist, I would just love to see them find the truth before it is too late. One thing is for sure, they do get pretty angry at times when confronted about God. Deep within I believe that their heart is getting stirred by the Holy Spirit. Unfortunately, they harden their hearts. All we can do is to show them the love of Christ, plant a seed or water the seed. God is the One that saves. So my hope is that whenever I post something about atheism that something get’s softened in their hearts. Have a blessed day.
great post, freddy. i think you have inspired me to blog relating to this.
blessings to you my friend and i trust you had a wonderful Christmas.
Freddy, I am so glad you wrote this. So many athiest/agnostic post on the Christian tags. I have felt God leading me to say something in response but don’t want to argue with them.
I actually had one respond with an apology for the many 4 letter words he used. I would appreciate any advice you can give in case I come across one to respond to that might actually listen. I will keep this post a study it.
